What Are Early Pregnancy Symptoms and Major Precautions?
Early pregnancy symptoms differ in each woman and each pregnancy. However the most common symptom of pregnancy is a missed or delayed period.
Understanding these early signs of pregnancy is vital for each symptom could be related to something else other than a possible pregnancy. You may experience some symptoms during the first week of conception or they can fail to be felt during the first few weeks.
What symptoms are to watch for?
Spotting
Among the earliest symptom of pregnancy is implantation bleeding. The embryo implants itself on the uterine after about 6-12 days from conception. Some women will experience cramping and others spotting.
Tender/Swollen Breasts
Another pregnancy symptom is tender or swollen breasts. This may start as early as the first two weeks of conception. Most women will notice slight changes in their breasts; they may be sore or tender to touch or swollen.
However, this may also be as a result of hormonal imbalance, impending menstruation and birth control pills can be behind swollen or sore breasts.
Tiredness/Fatigue
Feeling tired or constantly fatigued is another pregnancy symptom. This symptom can be felt as early as the first week of conception.
Other possible explanations could be; exhaustion, stress, common flu, depression and other illnesses can leave you with a feeling of fatigue or tiredness.
Morning sickness/Nausea
This is a well known pregnancy symptom and can be felt within 2-8 weeks of pregnancy. A few women are fortunate as they don't have to deal with nausea/morning sickness during their pregnancy, while others will feel nausea during all their first trimester of pregnancy.
However, there may be other explanations to this like; a change in hormonal balance due to the change of the birth control pills/method, stress, food poisoning or other stomach disorders which may also make you feel queasy or nauseated.
Headaches
A sudden rise of hormones can cause you to have headaches during the first trimester of pregnancy. This might also be as a result of other factors like dehydration, impeding menstruation, caffeine withdrawal; eye strains besides other ailments can be a source of recurrent headaches or even migraines.
Backaches
Another symptom that commonly occurs in early months of pregnancy is backaches, but also a dull backache could be experience during the whole pregnancy.
This could also be as a result of stress, an impending menstruation and other back pains or problems or mental strains could result to these backaches.
Periodic Urination
After 6 to 8 weeks of conception, you could find yourself having a frequent urge urinate.
However, there might be other reasons for this like; diabetes, an infection of the urinary tract, excessive intake of diuretics or an increased intake of liquids.
Food Cravings and Aversions
During pregnancy, many women may experience cravings for certain foods. This can last the entire three terms. Some will develop cravings while others will be grossed by some foods hence an aversion is made for most times of the nine months.
There may be other explanations for this that may not necessarily be inclined towards pregnancy. They're; lack of certain vital nutrients, poor diet, depression, stress, impending menstruation or due to an illness.
Some women during pregnancy may have a majority of these symptoms or just a few. If any of these symptoms persist, it is advisable to seek professional medical help or consult with your doctor so as to offset them if they're not as a result of pregnancy.
